Autonomous Power-Supply Based on Solar Cells and Supercapacitors for Wireless Sensor Nodes
Wireless sensor nodes are frequently equipped with tiny, low-power batteries. Hence, energy resources are scarce and it is difficult or even impossible to estimate the remaining energy. To achieve a virtually unrestricted node lifetime, energy harvesting modules such as solar cells can be used. Energy storage can be achieved using GoldCaps, which also offer an easy way of state of charge (SOC) determination. The goal of this thesis is to design, build and test a circuit with these two components.
