Behörde für Wissenschaft und Forschung

Prof. Dr. Volker Turau will receive the 2011 Hamburg Teaching Award for his excellent and innovative achievements in teaching.

The award was initiated by the Senate of the Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg and is honored annually since 2008. Prof. Dr. Turau follows his colleagues Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schmitz and Prof. Dr. Christian Kautz, who received the award in 2010 and 2009.

The award honors convincing, new types of didactic, innovative teaching methods, and interdisciplinary approaches to educate students.

The lectures taught by the honored professors made it particularly easy for students to follow and experience the topics by providing clear references to practice in the lectures. Also, his engagement in mentoring and supporting students was recognized by the awards committee.

The Award is given at a ceremony on June 28th, in the Staatsbilbiothek Hamburg.
