Students learning environments and portfolios in the eLearning system of the TUHH
Project Description
eLearning concepts and applications are essential elements of research and education at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) for many years. In 2008 the TUHH launched a two-year project to stabilize and enhance eLearning activities and structures.
One intention of the project was to amend and stabilize the existing support and help structures for eLearning in general. Furthermore, there was the intention to establish a learning environment that considers students' needs, supports the reflection of their learning processes and prepares them for the challenges of lifelong learning. To achieve these goals, an ePortfolio system was developed which allows purposeful digital collections of students' work that can be made accessible to other people. At TUHH, ePortfolios shall be used for various purposes at different stages of academic studies:
- Before or at the beginning of studies: Supporting the choice of a degree programme
- During studies: Supporting skill development
- Towards or after graduation: Supporting job application procedures
The use of ePortfolios is supposed to be carried out entirely voluntarily in all of these scenarios.
studIPort 2.0 was funded by ELCH (eLearning Consortium Hamburg) for about 2.5 years.
